Power of Attorney

Power of Attorney for a Declared Car or Motorcycle

<p>Bringing a vehicle into the country can be complicated—especially if you’re unable to travel to the port in person. Whether your car is arriving at the Poti Port, Batumi Port, or any other entry point in Georgia, you can authorize someone to handle the process on your behalf with a simple notarized power of attorney.</p>

<p>With this document, you don’t need to leave your city or visit the port. A local notary can issue the authorization, allowing a trusted company or individual to:</p>

  <li>Retrieve the vehicle from the port,</li>

  <li>Full name, surname, and ID number of the grantee (the person or company who will retrieve the car on your behalf)</li>
  <li>The grantee does not need to be present when issuing the power of attorney</li>

<h3>Validity Period</h3>

<p>The power of attorney can be issued for any length of time—one day, one week, one year, or indefinitely. However, a shorter validity period is recommended, as the vehicle retrieval process usually takes only a few days. There is typically no need to give someone long-term authority over your car unless absolutely necessary.</p>

Inheritance Issuance within 6 Months after Death

             <p>Since the legally defined period of 6 months has expired, inheritance with a notary is possible only if you have already taken possession of the property (e.g., you are already residing in a property registered in the decedent's name or have possession of the vehicle registered to the decedent).</p> 
              <p>In the absence of these circumstances, the notary issues a certificate of refusal for inheritance, which must be presented to a court to restore the inheritance period.</p>
              <h3>After restoring the period, the following documents must be presented:</h3>          
              <ol>
                  <li>Death certificate - issued by the Public Service Hall</li>
                  <li>Document proving kinship: (e.g., the decedent's marriage certificate, birth certificate indicating parents) - issued by the Public Service Hall</li>

             <p>If someone owes you money, you can formalize a debt recognition agreement with a notary.</p>

              <p>If the debtor fails to repay the debt within the agreed period, you won't need to go to court. The notary can issue an enforcement document, allowing enforcement against the debtor's assets.</p>

             <p>If you already have a debt recognition agreement and the debtor has violated the terms, you can obtain an enforcement document.</p>
              <p>Cost: Issuance of the enforcement document is 140 GEL. Amendments, cancellations, or issuance of a duplicate enforcement document costs 50 GEL.</p>
